Take a moment and drag This Link into the bookmark toolbar on your browser. And next time you have a few minutes to kill, click it. The result will be a Random Reddit. Reddit is a well known user submitted content site. Anyone can submit articles, which the world can then vote on. The ones that get the most votes are towards the top of the list. It always makes for interesting reading. But where it gets especially useful is that different subreddits can be created. Want to talk about Canon cameras or cooking or beagles? There's a reddit community for that, where content is submitted and ranked. Fun stuff.
And the Random Reddit link does what you think it does: sends you to a random community. I've just hit it 5 times and was taken to: r/comiccon - news about comic conventions, /r/porterrobinson - Porter Robinson, whoever that is, /r/assassinscreed - the Assassins Creed fan community, /r/badlinguistics - The repository for all the worst linguistics-related content and /r/germany - English language content related to Germany. You get the idea.
Click on the link enough times and you'll find one that's worth your time. And today's Random Reddit with your time: Red Neck Engineering. Redneck Engineering can be summed up in one sentence:
You know it when you see it.
Redneck Engineering covers all disciplines, including: plumbing, landscaping, boat building, car repair, HVAC, bike repair, mixology, photography and far more. Expect to see heavy use of duct tape and bungee cords. And don't be surprised if some of the "solutions" look like they might be dangerous. That's only because you're not a trained Redneck Engineer; to those versed in the science and art of said subject, there's nothing to be worried about.
All joking aside, /r/redneckengineering is packed full of interesting hacks and improvisations. I tip my hat to any and all who are willing to trade a bit of looks for a functional and field expedient solution. Even these guys.
