Every once in a while a travel day just goes your way. And so it was yesterday when we went to pick up our Nieces and Nephew in Boston. It started with us picking up a rental car at Dollar. We needed a vehicle that would hold a car seat and two booster seats, a taller order than one would expect. We could have reserved either a Mini-Van or Large SUV, but the rates on those vehicles are astronomical. So we gambled with a standard size SUV. As luck would have it, they had no standard size SUVs in stock, and so they asked if we'd mind a mini-van? Yeah, we'd make do. For the first time that I can recall, I left Dollar Rental Car elated.
And that's how the rest of the day went: the flights were super smooth, we had plenty of time to pickup the kids in the airport, and the kids were superb little travelers.
Once in DC, we hit the Arlington County Fair with our friends Lauren and Nick for some amusement part style fun. The kids had a blast. Initially Tzipora wanted to go on the Merry Go Round, then had cold feet, but pushed through her worries to really enjoy the ride. And Chana absolutely loved the jet-ski ride, chattering with joy the whole time the ride was running (just like her Uncle Ben would have). And Dovid was just the right size to do the Alligator Roller Coaster (alas, Chana was *too* tall), which caught him a little off guard as he grabbed the sides for dear life, but then rode it like a champ. Definitely good times all around.
Here's to a fun week. And I'm absolutely convinced there's no way we'll have this smooth a travel day again for quite some time...
