Last night, I ran along (a very short section of) the Captital Crescent Trail. To my surprise, I was treated to a number of wildlife settings. True I was running at dusk, which I suppose is an especially active time for animals, but still, this is DC in the snow. First, I practically ran into this family of deer:

And then I came across these two Great Blue Herons. One I accidentally caught as it was flying across the scene I was capturing, the other was nestled on the bank. They've got some quality camouflage, you may have to look hard to see them:
