This past weekend Shira and I celebrated our wedding anniversary. I wanted to get her something special and unique. I could have gone the jewelry or gadget route, and she probably would have been happy with that. But we just got back from a fancy trip, and buying more stuff just didn't seem like a smart move. Besides, I wanted something a bit more touching than a hands free kit for the car.
So I took my own advice and gave her the gift of Content Aggregation. I know, what could possibly be more romantic, right?
What I actually did was create a new YouTube playlist and collected up 15 (get, it?) videos that I thought she might like. YouTube, of course, has everything. So every romantic scene from every movie was just there for me to grab. And any song I could want was ready to be added. The sky's the limit and I didn't even have to leave YouTube.
The first part of the gift was to give her the playlist. The second part was to spend an hour with her watching it through.
It was a hit. Romantic, Free and showing that I was putting forth effort. What more can you ask for?
Next occasion, I'm definitely going the jewelry route. I've got to keep her on her toes.
