In no particular order...
- Dead Reckoning - use pace counting beads and a compass to navigate to a specific point.
- PVC Cutting - use ordinary string to slice through PVC pipe.
- Deafeat a Chain-Lock -use bit of string to get around a chain-lock.
- Boil water in a paper bag - yes, a paper bag. Apparently this can be done.
Don't know when I'll get to try these hacks out...but man, they'll be fun to try.
Re. the cutting PVC: A few years ago, I read an article in a model-building magazine about cutting styrene with thread. (For example, if you wanted to "open" the hood of a model car to custom build a model engine inside.) I tried it and it works great -- though it takes a bit of practice. One trick is to keep using different parts of the thread to keep it wearing evenly and prevent breaking.
