Growing up, "bored" wasn't part our vocabulary and certainly wasn't an allowed state. I had no idea other people felt so strongly about this.
Thing is, I think this concept is important. Rejecting boredom means rejecting that you're powerless. If you're not happy, it's up to exactly one person to fix this: yourself.
She probably didn't realize she was giving me such an empowering and important lesson. Knowing what I know about kids now, she probably just wanted me out of her hair for the afternoon. Doesn't matter, the lesson stuck.
