Well, the doctor gave me the diagnosis I expected: carpal tunnel syndrome. She says it should be treatable with a good ergonomic setup, heat, ibruprofen and you guessed it, hand braces.
Geesh, what is it with me and braces these days?
The good news is that the doctor thinks I have a good chance of getting this under control and my days as a programmer should continue.
Now, about these braces - what's the in color these days?
Wow, those are some serious looking braces. Not what I expected them to look like. All of those years of heavy emacs usage have finally caught up with you. :-)
ReplyDeleteI actually had carpal tunnel years ago (1999?) and had to wear plastic braces. Over time it went away. I think better ergonomic sitting helped. Have faith as it does get better. I probably only used the braces for a few months.

ReplyDeleteGiven the choice of using emacs with carpal tunnel syndrome, and eclipse without, I'd still using emacs ;-).

That's good to know that there's hope.
I'm actually finding the braces quite comfortable. And I'm married already, so I guess I don't need to be worried about looking like a dork....
