I mean, it seems to me that the Taliban were just protecting their "way of life" and couldn't have anyone Jeopardizing their religious beliefs, even if the couples love and desires did not directly affect them (somehow Gay marrige will affect my relationships? someone please explain this to me, I've never understood it). An extreme example maybe, but when we allow fear to control our beliefs, we must constantly protect them and therefore do anything to keep them from being broken.
