One of my favorite hacks from Popular Mechanics (I think): store a bit of paint from your contractor's job in a Tupperware container to make for quick and easy touch ups.

We didn't have a Tupperware container full of paint for the basement color, so I had to bust out the full supply. What a pain. Take the time to do the Tupperware approach, you'll be glad you did.
I didn't have a paint stirrer handy, so I made one from a coat hanger, cardboard and duct tape. Yes, I'm proud of myself, thank you very much.
