It's probably easier to buy a gun, and certainly easier to buy alcohol under age, than to buy Advil Cold & Sinus.
Here's the clerk recording Shira's ID info as she attempts to buy this heavily controlled substance.
Actually - I shouldn't be knocking this policy. If these steps do reduce drugs in the neighborhood, that's a good thing.
Shira just informed me - we only purchased .6 grams, so by Federal law, and we can purchase another 3 grams of pseudoephedrine today. How exciting.

The funny part is while Shira is correct on the amount of pseudoephedrine one can buy, it isn't all that hard to buy more. At least at Walgreens they enter the information into the computer system so that if you go to another Walgreens, you are blocked, but at CVS, they just write it down in a log, we must assume that they actually check if you've bought more recently at that store, but what is to stop you from walking into another CVS? I haven't exactly tried it, but seeing the old fashion paper tracking used...
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Nick - the system seems so fragile as to not be useful.
ReplyDeleteI'm so tempted to spend my next Sunday going around town buying Sudafed just because I think I can.
