But, have no fear - most of my work is done in emacs or by using Cygwin.
I'm essentially using the same xterm + screen + emacs + firefox combo I was using on Linux.
Windows does give me the advantage of being able to open up PowerPoint presentations or reply to Outlook meeting requests (even though I read my email in Gnus).
